Preds Punch Ticket To Postseason With Win Over Cobras

Orlando, Fla -- The Orlando Predators (4-3) defeated the Carolina Cobras (1-5) 43-40 on Saturday, July 17th at 7 PM.

The victory over the Cobras helped the Preds punch their ticket to the postseason, paired with a loss from the New Jersey Flight.

Offensively, wide receiver D.J Myers continued to shine, accounting for 11 receptions for 142 yards, leading all receivers on the night. Myers added two more touchdown catches to his resume, tallying his total to 16 on the season.

Myers was not the only Preds pass catcher to haul in more than one touchdown. Prince Shonola also shined with a pair of scores and seven receptions.

Offensive Lineman Darius Tolbert even took matters into his own hands and rumbled for a 16-yard gain on a trick play early in the first period.

Defensively, defensive back Cristophe Page led the team in tackles and also added two key pass break up’s to his performance against the Cobras. Nick Girgio and Shaki Holines both disrupted Carolina’s rhythm and applied enough pressure sacks.

Kassim Forbes came to play, returning an interception for a 16-yard pick six to help set the Predators tone for the second half. Orlando currently leads the National Arena League in interceptions with 12, four more than any team in the league.

Up next, the Orlando Predators will get to relax for a week while the team enjoys their BYE before a rematch with the Carolina Cobras on July 31st, at the Amway Center at 7 PM.
